What is Cialis?
Cialis is an ED treatment that works in 30 minutes and lasts for up to 36 hours (about 1 and a half days). It contains the active ingredient tadalafil and it’s effective for 80% of men.
How to take Cialis
Take one tablet at least 30 minutes before sex. The effects of Cialis can last for up to 36 hours. Never take more than one tablet within 36 hours. Alcohol will limit Cialis' effectiveness. Do not combine Cialis with other ED medicines. Find out more about how long Cialis takes to work here.
How does Cialis work
Cialis' active ingredient (tadalafil) increases blood flow to the penis. It enables a firmer, longer-lasting erection if you are sexually aroused.
The treatment will not resolve the underlying physical cause of your ED or increase your sexual desire.
What are the negative side effects of Cialis?
Cialis side effects are uncommon, but can include:
- Headaches
- Indigestion
- Palpitations (racing heartbeat)
- Light headedness
- Facial flushing
- Nasal congestion
- Muscle aches
These side effects should not last more than a few hours after taking a dose of Cialis.
You may be wondering how you can avoid Cialis side effects; you can stay hydrated, avoid rich or spicy food, keep cool with a fan and take an antiacid if needed.
For full information on side effects and correct use, see the patient information leaflet.
When to take Cialis for best results
Cialis treats ED in 80% of cases. If you have drunk more than 1-2 units of alcohol, you may find Cialis is less effective. Food does not impact how Cialis works.
We advise trying an ED treatment 8 times before giving up, considering a higher dose, or seeking an alternative.
