- Most suitable for diabetics
- It is taken 30 to 60 minutes before sex and can remain effective for around four to six hours
- Gives a firmer and longer-lasting erection when aroused
Levitra is a reliable ED treatment that can be taken with food, unlike Viagra.
Take one tablet 30-60 minutes before sex. Levitra will start working within one hour and positive effects should last around 4-6 hours.
Never take more than one tablet within a 24 hour period. Avoid taking Levitra with more than one or two units of alcohol as alcohol can limit its effectiveness. Eating a high-fat meal before taking Levitra may slightly delay its effects.
How it works
It works by increasing blood flow into the erectile tissue of the penis. Levitra does not have an effect on your sexual desire, but will improve your erection if you are sexually aroused.
The majority of men will notice a firmer and longer-lasting erection. If you find that the treatment does not work, ask our doctors whether it would be appropriate to increase the dose or to try a different medicine.
If Levitra doesn’t work for you first time round, it could nevertheless be more effective next time. Indeed, doctors advise trying all erectile dysfunction medicines eight times before giving up.
Side effects are uncommon, but can include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and an allergic rash. It can also cause facial flushing, headache and nasal congestion.
Nitrates and Levitra
Our doctors will not be able to prescribe Levitra if you are taking nicorandil or nitrates, such as GTN spray or isosorbide mononitrate tablets to treat angina.
Alpha-blockers and Levitra
If you are taking alpha-blockers, our doctors will advise that you leave at least six hours between taking your alpha-blocker and taking Levitra.
About Levitra (vardenafil)
How quickly does Levitra take effect?
Levitra should be taken 30 to 60 minutes before you plan on having sex. It should remain effective for around 4 to 6 hours. Unlike Viagra, it can be taken with food, but to avoid a delay in absorption you should take it with a low fat meal.
Does Levitra (vardenafil) treat the underlying causes of erectile dysfunction?
In men whose erectile dysfunction is caused by a physical problem, Levitra will not be able to treat its underlying cause. However, from a psychological perspective, it can improve confidence by providing successful erections, and may treat anxiety-induced ED. Please bear in mind, however, that erectile dysfunction can be the first sign of medical problems such as high blood pressure or diabetes. It’s important to check for these conditions with a blood test or physical examination. Treatment of these other conditions is important for your general health, as well as your sexual health.
