About free medical advice (Hepatitis B)

  • Who can use the service

This free service is intended for people who need to be vaccinated against hepatitis B, but are not sure if they have been already. You may be unsure whether you have already had the hepatitis B vaccine, whether you completed the course of 3 vaccines, whether you need a booster vaccine, or whether you are already immune.

If you work in healthcare and come into contact with body fluids, or regularly vaccinate or take blood from people, you should make sure you are vaccinated against hepatitis B.

  • How does the service work

When you request advice, you will be taken to a confidential medical questionnaire. This takes only a couple of minutes. Our clinicians will review your answers and respond within 1 working day. You will receive a message in your Patient Record with advice and the next steps.

  • Understanding your options

We may advise you to get the hepatitis B vaccination (taken in a course of 3 injections), get a booster vaccine, take an immunity test, or do nothing if you are already immune. You can use our service to request any vaccines or tests that are recommended.

  • Not immune after vaccination

We will advise you what to do if you've been fully vaccinated and your blood tests show you are not immune even after waiting 4 weeks (this is classified as being 'non-responsive' to the hepatitis B vaccination).

  • Confidentiality

Your responses are completely confidential. We will not inform your GP or anyone else that you have used our service unless you specifically ask us to.
