Erectile Dysfunction In Perspective
A breakdown of erectile dysfunction within the UK
Erectile dysfunction (ED) may be more common than you think. According to our recent survey, 69% of participants aged 25-75 have experienced erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives. Despite this high number, awareness of ED is still extremely low with 52% of those surveyed unaware that 1 in 5 men in the UK are affected by ED.1
To put this into perspective, and raise awareness of ED, we've looked closely at:
- The areas in the UK with the most cases
- The different effects it can have on men aged between 25-75
- How much ED is spoken about both personally and medically
- Whether there is any link between the Covid-19 pandemic and experience of ED.
We surveyed over 400 men on erectile dysfunction
To collect this data, we surveyed over 400 people across the UK aged between 25-75. For the full breakdown of the ages surveyed as a part of our research, see below.

The Ed Epidemic
Erectile dysfunction during the Covid-19 pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic has had an effect on ED in men all over the country. According to National Geographic research, those that have had Covid-19 are six times more likely to develop ED afterwards.2
We conducted the survey to discover how many of the people surveyed believe the pandemic directly affected their experience of erectile dysfunction. Hover over the circle for further findings from our research.

The Ed Effect
How erectile dysfunction impacts the people who experience it and their partners
The impact of erectile dysfunction extends beyond just the physical effects. The mental health and emotional impacts are often overlooked, and experiencing ED can also directly affect current or potential partners, too. If 69% of those surveyed have experienced ED, how have the effects varied between them?

The Uk Breakdown
The UK cities to commonly experience erectile dysfunction
Not everyone has an equal chance of experiencing erectile dysfunction. There are various factors that may increase your likelihood of getting ED, but who around the UK is most prevalent?
We've looked into which cities have the highest prevalence of ED according to our survey. Use the toggles to view the breakdown of our findings of the most and least common cities in the UK.
Ed In Conversation
The likeliness of those experiencing erectile dysfunction to talk about it
Despite the prevalence of ED, there is still a taboo around discussing ED. Whether it's with a medical professional, friend or a partner, many feel uncomfortable with the discussion, resulting in them not getting the treatment they need - or losing relationships as a result. Atomic Research UK found that, shockingly, many would rather split from their other half than discuss their medical problems.3
Our survey looked into how likely we are as a country to talk about ED, and how we feel about it surrounding the conversation. Discover our findings below.

Let’s start talking about erectile dysfunction
Not confident enough to talk to a doctor about your symptoms in person? An online consultation can break down the barrier, and make you feel less embarrassed about sharing your personal information.
Methodology
We surveyed 426 UK-based participants about their experience and knowledge of erectile dysfunction.
