About the Genital photo assessment service
How to use the service
We will ask you a few questions about your symptoms in the online consultation. You can then upload your photos.
Upload 2 photographs taken from slightly different angles. Ideally take 1 close up and the second from further away, with the whole area in frame.
The file you upload needs to be .jpeg or .png for us to assess it.
Taking a good photograph
Photographs should be in focus and have a resolution of at least three megapixels. If you're using your mobile to take the photo, double-check the resolution. It's best not to use the flash on your camera as this can make the picture too bright to see clearly.
Diagnosing a condition
We aim to assess your photograph within one working day. We will contact you with advice about your photo via your Patient Record.
We may be able to diagnose genital warts, herpes, fungal rash, molluscum contagiosum and cysts. We'll also be able to tell you if there's nothing to worry about.
Occasionally we are unable to diagnose your condition and will advise you to visit your GP or visit a sexual health clinic. Because you're paying for our professional advice rather than for the guarantee of a diagnosis, we're unable to make a refund in this instance.
Treatment options
Depending on the diagnosis, we will recommend the best course of action. This could be a particular treatment, some of which are available from our service, or advice to visit your local GP or sexual health clinic for treatment.
If there's no diagnosis
Unfortunately, we are occasionally unable to diagnose conditions via our photo assessment service. If that happens, we will advise you to visit your GP.
