The pack also needs to reach our laboratory within 4 days of providing their urine sample. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo test for syphilis and HIV you need to provide a finger prick blood sample using a small finger pricking device, contained within the kit. You will only need to produce a small amount of blood and it shouldn't hurt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe test kit contains all the information and equipment you will need to safely collect these samples at home. You require a face-to-face assessment at your local sexual health clinic or GP. Only take this test if you do NOT have any symptoms (listed below in FAQ section).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe use a 5th generation HIV test – one of the most sensitive tests that is currently available. If you are in any doubt, we advise that you go to your nearest sexual health clinic or visit your GP.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eWhen to take a chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis \u0026amp; HIV test\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe ‘window period’ is the time period between potential exposure to HIV e.g. sex without a condom, and the point when the test will give you an accurate result.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTests done too early may not be accurate.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe window period is different for the four STIs being tested:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eChlamydia and gonorrhoea: two weeks after exposure\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eHIV: 45 days after exposure\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSyphilis: 12 weeks after exposure \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHowever, if you think you might have an STI, you can test immediately and repeat the test after the window period (you will need to purchase two test kits for this).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eAccessing results: How long does chlamydia \/ HIV test take?\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTest results are normally ready within 3 working days of your sample arriving at our partner laboratory.
